Traulsen equipment we repair

Choose the equipment type for problem details and service information. Bastion Service is an independent repair company and is not affiliated with Traulsen.

Diagnosis first

What a service technician checks

Good diagnosis starts with the exact symptom, model, operating conditions, and service history. The technician tests the systems connected to the failure instead of replacing parts by guesswork.

  • Power, supply, and controls to confirm the machine can start and complete its normal sequence.
  • Airflow, water, heat, and movement as applicable to the exact equipment type.
  • Error history and model data before matching parts, manuals, or service information.

Model reference

Traulsen models and manuals

Use the model search to confirm that your equipment is listed. The model and serial label is still the final reference for service information.

Symptoms and care

Bastion Service repairs Traulsen equipment. These model and manual references help identify your equipment; symptoms alone do not confirm a diagnosis.

Manual candidates require the complete model, serial/build and installed controller to be checked. A specification sheet is not an operating manual. These references do not authorize installation or DIY repair.

Repair service only. New equipment installation is not offered.

Models and manuals

Match the complete model, serial/build and installed controller before using a document.

Bastion Service repairs existing equipment. We do not install new equipment.

R-Series refrigerator reference5 topics Back to models and manuals

Official operating manual: TR35743 | Revision 04/2026

Match the cabinet and build date

This R-Series reference covers equipment manufactured after July 1, 2025. It is form TR35743, revision 04/2026. Confirm the complete refrigerator model and installed control before applying its guidance.

Describe temperature, running time and door behavior

Door sealing, warm loading, restricted airflow, condenser fouling, settings or evaporator icing may explain poor cooling or extended operation. A persistent door indication needs assessment, not automatic switch replacement. Humming without starting calls for service.

Separate alarms from menu information

Power-failure and cabinet-temperature alarms describe conditions, not confirmed component failures. Menu labels can have different meanings in sensor readings and settings. Record the complete display and the menu being viewed.

Check which condenser is fitted

The StayClear guidance specifies cleaning every six months or when significant obstruction develops. Standard finned condensers need regular cleaning; do not apply the StayClear interval without identifying the equipment.

Keep cleaning and refrigerant work separate

Disconnect electrical power before cleaning. Suspected refrigerant leakage requires service; do not attempt to open or repair the refrigerant system.

TU full-size undercounter reference5 topics Back to models and manuals

Official operating manual: TR35924 | Revision 05/25

Use the correct undercounter reference

Form TR35924, revision 05/25, covers equipment manufactured after December 2024. The cover gives no day. Match the actual cabinet and controller rather than choosing instructions from the model prefix alone.

Distinguish poor cooling from a starting problem

Drawer sealing, loading, condenser or filter fouling and evaporator icing can affect cooling or running time. A compressor that hums without starting needs service; the sound does not identify one failed electrical part.

Capture the full display message

This edition discusses both temperature-protection messages and runtime-based cleaning reminders. Probe readings and compressor working-time information are not fault codes. Confirm the installed control before interpreting a message.

Do not treat a reminder as a calendar

Regular condenser and filter care matters. The configurable cleaning reminder does not establish one maintenance interval for every cabinet. Have the equipment and operating conditions assessed.

Leave sealed-system work to service

Disconnect power before cleaning. Suspected R-290 leakage requires professional attention; do not attempt sealed-system repairs.

C-Series compact undercounter reference5 topics Back to models and manuals

Official operating manual: TR36443 | Revision 01/26

Confirm compact-cabinet applicability

This C-Series compact reference is form TR36443, revision G, dated 01/26, for equipment manufactured after February 1, 2026. Refrigerator guidance does not automatically cover another cabinet configuration.

Report cooling and starting symptoms separately

Door sealing, recent loading, settings, condenser fouling and evaporator icing may contribute to a warm cabinet or continuous running. Humming without starting requires service rather than owner component replacement.

An operating state is not necessarily a fault

Defrost and standby are operating states. Door alarms, cleaning warnings and probe-related messages have different meanings. Provide the exact display and controller details; wiring and probe diagnosis require a technician.

Keep the quarterly care guidance separate

This edition specifies condenser cleaning every three months, adjusted for the operating environment. A reminder based on compressor working weeks does not replace that guidance. Other Traulsen families can have different requirements.

Keep protective covers in place

Disconnect electrical power before cleaning. The rear cover must be fitted during operation. Suspected refrigerant leakage requires service; do not attempt refrigerant-system repairs.

R-Series freezer reference: after 2025-07-013 topics Back to models and manuals

Official freezer operating manual | Document: TR35743 | Revised: 04/2026

Does this freezer guide match my equipment?

This edition covers the listed R-Series equipment built after July 1, 2025. A matching model name does not establish the production date or installed control. Send the complete model and serial number when requesting repair. Bastion repairs existing equipment; we do not install new equipment.

Why does defrost timing vary?

For the freezer controls described here, defrost responds to operating conditions rather than a fixed schedule. Different timing alone does not prove a fault. Record the indication and when cooling resumes; do not change service settings to make the cycle follow another unit's schedule.

Fans pause after defrost

The documented freezer sequence delays the coil fans after defrost to avoid blowing warm air or moisture into storage. A brief pause is not by itself proof of a failed fan. Request diagnosis if normal cooling does not return; do not bypass the delay or test internal wiring.

G-Series freezer reference: after 2023-055 topics Back to models and manuals

Official freezer operating manual

Match the guide to your freezer

This guide covers equipment produced after May 2023. Send the complete model and serial tag plus a controller photo; the G-Series name alone does not establish applicability.

The display shows dEF

On the controller described here, dEF indicates defrost, not a fault code. Fans can remain stopped briefly afterward. Record persistent messages and cooling concerns; do not change service settings.

Warm cabinet or prolonged running

Possible contributors include poor door sealing, recent warm loading, a dirty condenser or an iced evaporator. These observations help diagnosis but do not identify a failed part.

Plan condenser care

The guide calls for regular cleaning without a fixed monthly interval. Disconnect power before cleaning. R290 equipment requires ignition-source precautions; arrange qualified service for inaccessible or damaged components.

Compressor hums without starting

Request service rather than attempting electrical or sealed-system repairs. Mention whether cooling has stopped and provide the full model and serial number.

C-Series freezer reference: after 2026-02-015 topics Back to models and manuals

Official freezer operating manual | Document: TR35899 | Revised: F, 01/26

Match the controller first

This guide is for equipment made after February 1, 2026. Send the complete serial tag and controller photo before selecting instructions.

Defrost and fan pauses

dEF and a short fan delay can accompany normal defrost. Persistent cooling trouble needs diagnosis, not repeated parameter changes.

E1, E2 or E3

Record the message for service. A probe indication does not, by itself, establish which component needs replacement.

Condenser care

Arrange regular condenser cleaning. Disconnect power before cleaning; lower-panel wiring may be attached. This passage specifies no monthly cleaning interval.

Warm cabinet or long running

Door seals, loading, condenser dirt or evaporator ice may contribute. Report the pattern rather than assuming compressor failure.

Historical freezer context: INTELA-TRAUL (2004-10)4 topics Back to models and manuals

Historical operating manual; family context only | Document: TR35743 REV. 10/04; 375-60176-00 | Revised: 2004-10

High cabinet temperature

Extended door openings, a hot load or a dirty condenser can raise cabinet temperature. Record the displayed message and recent operating conditions. A temperature alarm alone does not identify a failed component.

Low cabinet temperature

An empty cabinet or a sensor problem can contribute to a low-temperature warning. Tell the technician whether the cabinet was loaded and whether the warning returns.

A service message is not a leak diagnosis

This message can accompany different conditions. Low refrigerant charge is only one possibility in the applicable alarm context; a sensor fault can also be involved. Record accompanying messages and arrange diagnosis rather than assuming refrigerant is needed.

Condenser care and cleaning warnings

Keep scheduled condenser care on the maintenance plan. A cleaning warning can involve restricted airflow or a sensor issue, so persistent warnings need diagnosis. Disconnect power before cleaning; arrange service if safe access is uncertain. This alarm does not apply to remote units.

Historical freezer context: G-Series microprocessor, three-digit display (2004-10)4 topics Back to models and manuals

Historical operating manual; family context only | Document: TR35748 REV. 10/04; 375-60184-00 | Revised: 2004-10

The display shows dEF

On this controller, dEF marks defrost. Freezer fans can remain stopped briefly after defrost while the coil cools. A pause is not automatically a fan failure. Report persistent warming or a cycle that does not return to normal operation.

Identify the older G controller

Include the serial plate and a clear controller photo with a repair request. This edition describes a battery-backed microprocessor clock; it is not the R/A INTELA-TRAUL alarm guide. A familiar model number does not establish which controller is fitted.

Plan regular condenser care

Schedule regular condenser cleaning rather than waiting for cooling performance to fall. This section does not set one monthly interval for every kitchen. Disconnect power before cleaning and arrange service when access or the correct procedure is uncertain.

Running longer or staying warm

Door sealing, a hot load, condenser dirt or ice buildup can contribute to long running or warming. Record when the change started and whether doors close fully. Humming without starting needs service; do not repeatedly attempt to start the compressor.

Maintenance

Prevent avoidable breakdowns

Maintenance intervals come from the instructions for the exact model and its operating conditions. Heavy use, heat, dust, grease, hard water, and poor ventilation can shorten the interval.

Keep airflow clear

Clean accessible filters and keep vents, coils, and surrounding space free of dust, grease, boxes, and fabric.

Watch for early changes

Longer cycles, unstable temperature, new sounds, leaks, and repeated error messages are reasons to schedule service before a shutdown.

Use the exact instructions

Cleaning products, procedures, filters, and intervals vary by model. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the exact equipment.
