Supported equipment

Southbend equipment we repair

Choose the equipment type for problem details and service information. Bastion Service is an independent repair company and is not affiliated with Southbend.

Diagnosis first

What a service technician checks

Good diagnosis starts with the exact symptom, model, operating conditions, and service history. The technician tests the systems connected to the failure instead of replacing parts by guesswork.

  • Power, supply, and controls to confirm the machine can start and complete its normal sequence.
  • Airflow, water, heat, and movement as applicable to the exact equipment type.
  • Error history and model data before matching parts, manuals, or service information.

Model reference

Southbend models and manuals

Use the model search to confirm that your equipment is listed. The model and serial label is still the final reference for service information.

Bastion Service repairs existing equipment. We do not install new equipment.

Full-size Platinum electric3 topics Back to models and manuals

Official oven manual: 1409004 REV 1 (09/25)

Temperature falls below the setting

A full-size Platinum electric oven that loses temperature may have a sensing, control, calibration or ventilation issue. Record the displayed temperature, setting and cooking load. Those observations help separate an intermittent complaint from a consistent temperature-control problem; they do not identify a replacement part.

A stopped blower needs more than a motor check

The electric troubleshooting chart includes power, wiring, switching and motor-supply paths. A silent blower is not enough to condemn the motor. Internal electrical checks and shutdown-switch testing belong to qualified personnel, not an owner-access procedure.

Daily cleaning and qualified periodic care

This edition calls for daily cleaning and qualified cleaning and adjustment at least twice a year. Those are different tasks. Let the oven cool and isolate power before cleaning; follow the surface-specific restrictions. Do not remove the liner or reach into the blower as part of this overview.

Half-size Platinum electric3 topics Back to models and manuals

Family manual; unit match unconfirmed: 1408999 REV 1 (09/25)

Half-size temperature-control complaints

Use the half-size Platinum electric manual for the applicable unit. Temperature sensing, heat demand, calibration and ventilation are separate possible reasons for poor temperature holding. A similar full-size product listing does not establish the correct diagnostic procedure for this oven.

An inactive panel does not mean all power is isolated

The half-size chart distinguishes control-power and heating-element supply paths. A stopped fan or dark panel therefore does not establish that internal parts are safe to touch. Supply, wiring, contactor and motor concerns require testing before a repair decision.

Keep monthly air-opening care in its proper scope

Daily cleaning, monthly attention to specified air openings and qualified service attention at least twice yearly are separate recommendations in this edition. Use only safely accessible cleaning points with the oven cool and power isolated. Do not move connected equipment or remove covers to reach a blocked opening.

Full-size Platinum gas3 topics Back to models and manuals

Official oven manual: 1409003 REV 1 (09/25)

Ignition symptoms describe different problems

An ignitor that glows without lighting a burner differs from one that never glows. Gas delivery, ignition controls, heat demand and the operating sequence are possible factors. Burners that light and then stop follow another diagnostic path. Do not repeat ignition trials to collect more observations.

Uneven flame spread needs qualified service

Incomplete flame spread may involve burner alignment, supply pressure or an obstructed orifice. These are possible causes, not instructions to adjust or clean gas components. Stop using malfunctioning equipment and have the burner system assessed.

Care schedule and gas-safety limits

The full-size gas edition separates daily cleaning, monthly air-opening care and qualified cleaning and adjustment at least twice yearly. Cleaning starts with cooling and power isolation. A gas odor requires the posted emergency response and the gas supplier emergency service, not cleaning, relighting or a control reset.

Half-size Platinum gas3 topics Back to models and manuals

Official oven manual: 1408998 REV 1 (09/25)

Temperature holding on half-size gas ovens

The half-size gas chart considers temperature sensing, control response, calibration and ventilation. It does not establish the same ignition-diagnosis sequence as the full-size gas manual. Match the equipment and controller before applying guidance from another Platinum model.

Describe when the blower stops

Report whether the blower never starts or stops during use. The chart includes incoming power, wiring, fan-speed switching, motor and shutdown-switch concerns. Each needs diagnosis; a stopped fan alone does not establish a defective motor. Do not bypass a switch to test operation.

Cleaning does not replace service or emergency response

This edition separates daily cleaning, monthly air-opening attention and qualified periodic care at least twice a year. Cool and electrically isolate the oven before cleaning. Suspected gas leakage calls for the posted emergency procedure and gas supplier emergency service; do not open controls or attempt another ignition.

Platinum Pro probe controls3 topics Back to models and manuals

Probe-only supplement; not a full oven manual: 1409552 REV 0 (07/2025)

Standard wired probes: what open means

On the standard wired-probe control, open is a connection-state display before a temperature reading is available. It is not a universal oven error code. If the display remains inconsistent with the probe connection, report the panel type and affected probe to the manufacturer support team.

Touchscreen wired and wireless probes are different

The wired touchscreen uses dashes while a probe reading is unavailable. Wireless probes have separate identification, charging and pairing conditions. A missing reading does not by itself prove a failed sensor. Record the probe identity and visible display without changing service settings or factory wiring.

This supplement covers probe operation, not all oven maintenance

Use the matching oven manual for broader care. A timed screen-cleaning lock is not electrical isolation, and a visible light control does not establish that a lamp is installed. Hot doors, food and components still require caution. Panel access, service tests and resets are outside this owner overview.

TruVection electric3 topics Back to models and manuals

Official oven manual: 1194659 REV 1 (11/21)

Temperature loss and element-supply control

For the covered TruVection electric ovens, possible temperature-holding causes include sensing, control, calibration, ventilation and the element-supply contactor. A contactor listed in a chart is not a confirmed failure. Describe the temperature behavior before any component decision.

Blower complaints follow a separate supply path

The blower chart considers supply, wiring, switching and the motor. These checks are separate from simply replacing a heating component. Leave electrical measurements and internal access to a qualified technician; an off control is not proof that every circuit is isolated.

Use the TruVection cleaning instructions

The manual distinguishes daily cleaning, monthly specified air-opening care and qualified cleaning and adjustment at least twice yearly. Cleaner wording differs from newer Platinum manuals, so match the surface and edition. Start with cooling and power isolation; do not turn blower access or connected-equipment movement into a customer task.

TruVection gas3 topics Back to models and manuals

Official oven manual: 1194658 REV 1 (11/21)

Ignition and early burner shutdown

TruVection gas troubleshooting separates no ignition from burners that light and then shut down. Supply, ignition-control, ignitor, flame-sensor or valve concerns may be involved, depending on the sequence. Describe what occurred during normal use without repeating ignition attempts or opening the burner area.

Poor flame spread is not an owner adjustment

Burner alignment, pressure or an orifice obstruction may affect flame spread. Determining which applies requires qualified service. Do not clear an orifice or alter gas settings based on the symptom, and do not borrow electrical test values from a Platinum chart.

Separate operator cleaning from qualified care

Daily cleaning, monthly attention to specified air openings and qualified periodic work at least twice yearly serve different purposes. The manual requires a cool oven and power isolation for cleaning. Follow accessible surface-care instructions; internal access, vent-system work and adjustments remain outside this owner summary.

Historical Marathoner and SilverStar gas ovens3 topics Back to models and manuals

Manufacturer gas operating reference; F-code topic requires programmable or rack-timer controls; exact unit applicability unconfirmed | Document: 1181887 / REV 3; copyright 2008; revision date unspecified

Record the complete F-code

Photograph the message and exterior controls. These definitions require the matching controller. With F2 or unexpected overheating, stop using the oven and request service; do not repeatedly restart it.

Temperature problems need more than a new thermostat

Possible causes include sensing, heat control, gas supply, ventilation or calibration. Describe the observed behavior to the technician. Do not adjust gas pressure or test live wiring.

Clean only after cooling and power isolation

The manual separates daily cleaning from monthly rear-airflow cleaning. Let trained staff follow the matched procedure; leave cover removal and inaccessible areas to service personnel.

Historical Marathoner and SilverStar electric ovens3 topics Back to models and manuals

Manufacturer electric operating reference; F-code topic requires programmable or rack-timer controls; exact unit applicability unconfirmed | Document: 1181958 / REV 2; copyright 2008; revision date unspecified

An F-code is not a parts order

F3/F4 concern the probe circuit, including connections and wiring. F2 needs overheating evaluation. Stop using an overheating oven; leave internal testing and replacement decisions to a qualified technician.

A stopped blower does not prove a failed motor

The reference also identifies supply, connections, contactors and the shutdown switch. Report what happened during normal use; do not open the panel or defeat the switch.

Keep cleaning work separate from electrical service

Daily cleaning and monthly rear-airflow attention are distinct. Cool and isolate the oven before cleaning. Arrange qualified help where access requires panels or moving the appliance.

Historical G, SL and B: parts and configuration identification3 topics Back to models and manuals

Manufacturer parts reference, not operating approval; SC and CCH remain separate; lighting and harness conflicts unresolved | Document: 1198300 / REV 4 (10/14)

Keep the whole model number with a parts inquiry

Retain the slash, digits and final letters. Provide model and serial details already available in your records; do not remove a service panel just to collect them.

Similar control panels are not necessarily interchangeable

This parts reference separates SC and CCH assemblies and their electrical options. An exterior photo can help identification, but it does not establish which replacement fits.

Confirm an uncertain parts reference before ordering

Two harness references in this edition carry question marks. Ask the technician or manufacturer to resolve the match rather than dropping the marks and ordering by appearance.

Standard-panel observations in the 2015 edition2 topics Back to models and manuals

Manufacturer Standard-panel reference only; not assigned to BGS SC or unmatched SL19/29 units | Document: 1181887 / REV 10 (10/15)

Timer sounds but heat continues

On the standard panel pictured in this edition, the timer is a reminder, not an automatic heat shutoff. A sounding timer alone does not show that the temperature control has failed. Confirm the fitted panel before using guidance from another version.

Fan behavior depends on the selected mode

The illustrated standard panel distinguishes COOK from COOL. Fan operation can differ with the door open, so report the selected mode and door position when describing a fan concern. Do not bypass the door switch to test it.

Recognizing the controls in the 2023 edition1 topic Back to models and manuals

Manufacturer edition-identification reference only; no touchscreen instructions assigned to older knob-controlled units | Document: 1181887 / REV 14 (11/23)

Match the controls as well as the model

This edition includes touchscreen controls alongside standard and cook-and-hold panels. An exterior control-panel photo helps the technician select the relevant instructions. Touchscreen directions should not be applied to an older knob-controlled oven.

Maintenance

Prevent avoidable breakdowns

Maintenance intervals come from the instructions for the exact model and its operating conditions. Heavy use, heat, dust, grease, hard water, and poor ventilation can shorten the interval.

Keep airflow clear

Clean accessible filters and keep vents, coils, and surrounding space free of dust, grease, boxes, and fabric.

Watch for early changes

Longer cycles, unstable temperature, new sounds, leaks, and repeated error messages are reasons to schedule service before a shutdown.

Use the exact instructions

Cleaning products, procedures, filters, and intervals vary by model. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the exact equipment.
