Diagnosis first
What a service technician checks
Good diagnosis starts with the exact symptom, model, operating conditions, and service history. The technician tests the systems connected to the failure instead of replacing parts by guesswork.
- Power, supply, and controls to confirm the machine can start and complete its normal sequence.
- Airflow, water, heat, and movement as applicable to the exact equipment type.
- Error history and model data before matching parts, manuals, or service information.
Model reference
Hobart models and manuals
Use the model search to confirm that your equipment is listed. The model and serial label is still the final reference for service information.
Hobart dishwasher model references
Bastion Service repairs Hobart dishwashers. These model and manual references help identify your equipment; symptoms alone do not confirm a diagnosis.
Manual candidates require the complete model, serial/build and installed controller to be checked. A specification sheet is not an operating manual. These references do not authorize installation or DIY repair.
Repair service only. New equipment installation is not offered.

Dirty dishes or water that will not stay?
Poor washing can result from lost tank water, restricted circulation, scale, loading or chemical delivery. A slow fill may involve restricted supply or water escaping through the drain. Report whether water enters and stays in the tank; a pump replacement is not established by dirty dishes.
Startup letters are not always faults
On AM15, AM15F and AM15T, startup "AH" or "AP" identifies hot-water sanitizing; "AC" identifies chemical sanitizing. Other suffixes differ. Photograph the complete display and model plate. On the documented SVL and SCB configurations, similar warning characters can refer to different chemicals.
Which maintenance belongs to your machine?
Follow shift-end cleaning, with a daily minimum. Scale removal depends on deposits, reminders and the chemical professional's schedule. Ventless baffles need periodic care, not an assumed six-month interval. The three-month flue check applies only to machines with gas tank heat; arrange appropriately qualified maintenance.
When filling or temperature problems persist
Continuous leakage is different from occasional booster-expansion drips between cycles. Report the cycle stage and any temperature or sanitation interruption. Follow the machine's safety guidance and arrange service; do not dismantle valves, adjust gas components, bypass lockouts or repeatedly reset faults.

Poor washing, filling or draining?
Poor washing may involve loading, obstructed arms or strainers, chemical delivery or temperature. Slow filling needs supply and inlet-flow checks; retained water needs drain-path assessment. Note when the problem occurs. These observations do not identify a failed pump, valve or heater.
What the LXe display tells you
In this edition, "WASH ARM ALERT" concerns blockage on LXePR/R with alerts enabled. "LOW RINSE TEMP" applies to LXeH/R when enabled. Continued cycling does not prove sanitization. Photograph the complete message and model label; these warnings are not component-replacement instructions.
Daily care versus scale removal
Follow the operator cleaning procedure every working day. Deliming depends on mineral deposits and reminders, not a monthly rule. LXePR/R use an internal delimer pump; LXeC/H use a different procedure. Match your model before chemical handling; follow the complete manufacturer and chemical-supplier instructions.
When to arrange service
Arrange qualified assessment for ongoing leaks, sensor warnings or filling/draining failures. Capture the display before the visit. Never mix acid cleaners with bleach products. Do not alter dosing, remove service covers, bypass safeguards or repeatedly reset faults. We repair existing equipment. We do not install new units.

What changed during the wash cycle?
Dirty dishes may involve obstructed circulation, deposits, loading, chemistry or temperature. Slow filling needs supply checks. Report steam after the cycle separately from poor washing: the ventless troubleshooting entry applies only to the listed ventless models. ASR overflow applies only when ASR is fitted.
An overtemperature message needs service
The display "Wash tank overtemp tripped." calls for qualified service in this edition. Photograph the entire message, not just its number. Heater-control warnings are not reset experiments. A technician must distinguish temperature, sensing and control conditions before identifying a failed component.
Keep daily and six-month tasks separate
Clean at shift end, at least daily. Built-in Hobart chemical pumps require six-month tubing inspections, with replacement by condition. The baffle schedule names AM16VLT-BAS, AM16VLT-ADV and AM16SVLT: every six months or sooner when needed. Other configurations do not automatically inherit those tasks.
What to record before the service visit
Keep the full model suffix, display and affected cycle stage together. Do not assume continued cycling proves sanitization. Leave internal work to qualified personnel using all required isolation points, including a separate booster circuit where fitted. Do not defeat strainers or safety lockouts.
AM16X operation and care4 topics
Back to models and manualsOfficial manual: HOBART-F41235-2022-06 | June 2022
Poor results do not identify a pump failure
Loading, obstructed arms, missing arm cleanout plugs or deposits can affect washing. Record whether the problem is cleaning, filling, draining or temperature, together with the displayed text. AM16X has its own troubleshooting context; the AM16 numeric chart is not a substitute.
Match the maintenance task to the suffix
Follow shift-end cleaning, at least daily. Where built-in Hobart chemical pumps are fitted, tubing inspection is every six months and replacement depends on condition. Baffle cleaning every six months or sooner is specified for AM16VLT-BASX, not automatically every AM16X model.
A delime reminder is not a monthly schedule
"DELIME RECOMMENDED" follows configured cycle counts. "DELIME REQUIRED" identifies a lockout when enabled. Record which message appears and use the complete operator procedure for your machine. Do not change protected settings or repeatedly dismiss reminders to avoid maintenance; no universal ignored-reminder limit is given here.
Treat a hazardous-condition display as urgent
The "Hazardous Condition" display concerns heater-control behavior requiring qualified service. Follow the machine's displayed emergency instructions; continued filling or draining does not make it safe to keep washing. Do not open electrical compartments, bypass safeguards or attempt reset and chemical-dosing experiments.

Is the display blank or showing a message?
A blank display and "DOOR OPEN" lead to different checks. For poor washing, possible factors include loading, restricted circulation, chemical delivery or temperature. Report retained water and ongoing leaks separately. Occasional drips on a hot-water-sanitizing machine do not explain every leak.
Which LXn controller is on the machine?
Record the full model and message before consulting a code chart. The October 2023 manual does not automatically cover a newer LXn Base controller. A heater-control warning needs qualified service, not a guessed sensor replacement or repeated reset. Continued cycling is not a sanitation clearance.
What needs attention between service visits?
Clean after each shift, at least daily. This edition specifies three-month tubing inspections and rinse-aid suction-strainer checks when rinse aid is used; replace tubing by condition. Deliming depends on water and use. LXnC/H and LXnR have different agent-delivery procedures, not one universal monthly schedule.
Prepare the right information without opening covers
This guide concerns the selected LXnC, LXnH and LXnR configurations. Photograph the model label and display; a shared manual cover does not establish repair eligibility. Follow manufacturer and chemical-supplier instructions. Never mix acid cleaners with bleach products or bypass a lockout.
Maintenance
Prevent avoidable breakdowns
Maintenance intervals come from the instructions for the exact model and its operating conditions. Heavy use, heat, dust, grease, hard water, and poor ventilation can shorten the interval.
Keep airflow clear
Clean accessible filters and keep vents, coils, and surrounding space free of dust, grease, boxes, and fabric.
Watch for early changes
Longer cycles, unstable temperature, new sounds, leaks, and repeated error messages are reasons to schedule service before a shutdown.
Use the exact instructions
Cleaning products, procedures, filters, and intervals vary by model. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the exact equipment.
